Trekkers Camp

Trekkers Camp at Footsteps School

Trekkers Camp is our much-loved holiday camp held during most school holidays and for several weeks during the summer. Based at our homely Footsteps site on Eastern Avenue, Trekkers brings children together from schools all over the island to play, explore and build lasting memories.

At Trekkers, we believe time in nature and with friends is imperative for a child’s development, focus, social skills, spirit and emotional regulation. Camp is more relaxed than the school day — offering space for movement, creativity, independence and the simple magic of childhood.

Our Trekkers Ethos

Our camp community recognises and respects that all children are different.

At Trekkers, we nurture:

  • Ambition
  • Belonging
  • Kindness
  • Respect
  • Responsibility
  • Resilience
  • Tolerance
  • Commitment and perseverance

We promote Caymanian values and foster a strong sense of community, encouraging children to be considerate, open-minded and supportive of one another.

Trekkers is co-educational, non-denominational and welcomes campers from all cultures, religions and nationalities, reflecting our vibrant Cayman community.

Who Can Attend?

  • Children aged 5–11 years
  • Campers should have good independence
  • Open to children from all schools
  • Staff ratio of 1 adult to 10 children
  • Always led by a qualified teacher

All staff are Footsteps employees, police-checked, safeguarding trained, first aid trained and up to date with CPR. Our camp leaders are qualified teachers with Beach and Forest School training — your children are in very safe, experienced hands.

What We Offer

Trekkers is filled with hands-on, engaging experiences, including:

  • Arts & crafts
  • Nature activities
  • Gardening
  • Treasure hunts
  • Baking
  • Outdoor games & free play
  • Seasonal activities
  • Movie & popcorn afternoons
  • Island excursions

While camp is predominantly based at school, we regularly use our school minibus (with seatbelts) to explore our beautiful tropical island. Trips may include the Botanical Gardens, local parks and beach playground areas (weather dependent).

Children are grouped thoughtfully — sometimes by similar age, sometimes mixed — and we always encourage older children to support younger campers.

Camp Day

  • Drop off: 8:30–9:30am (Playground gate)
  • Pick up: 2:45–3:00pm (Studio)
  • No aftercare available

We encourage prompt collection and clear communication with families throughout the day when needed.

Fees

  • $295 per week (5 days)
  • $245 (4-day week)
  • $70 daily rate

Spaces are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and confirmed by email following registration.

Healthy & Nut-Free /
Orange-Free Environment

Trekkers Camp is a nut-free camp in our nut-free school building. We also ask that oranges are not sent in due to allergies.

Children should bring:

  • A healthy snack and packed lunch (no heating available)
  • A reusable water bottle
  • Hat, suncream and bug spray
  • Change of clothes (just in case!)
  • Additional swim items on trip days – we use a splashpad at the Botanic Park

No sweets, juice, soda, toys, phones or valuables.

A Camp Community

Trekkers creates a genuine sense of belonging. Children make new friends outside their usual school circle, grow in confidence and develop independence in a safe and nurturing environment.

We look forward to welcoming your child for a holiday filled with play, exploration and unforgettable memories.
